Prospects and AAA Both Win Brackets In PG WWBA

Baseball U had two teams advance to the playoff round at the Perfect Game WWBA NE Qualifier #1.

The Prospect Team composed of players from various northeast states won their bracket with a record of 2-0-1. The team defeated the All Pro Academy Prospects composed of players from the NJ Mariners and Jaguar Scout team. The game was broken open with two three run home runs in the fourth and fifth innings. The team won the rain shortened game by the score of 9-3.

The team sent Eric Stone to the mound against the Philadelphia Senators in the first round of the playoffs. The Prospects lost the game by a score of 2-1. Both runs scored by the Senators were unearned in the game. Stone was consistently hitting 87-88mph with a tight curve ball.

The Baseball U AAA program went 2-0 in their bracket defeating the NJ Marlins by a score of 15-1 and the Syracuse Chiefs by a score of 6-4. In the Chiefs game the team scored 4 runs in the 5th off of Wake Forrest bound RHP, Matt Pirro.

In the first round of the playoffs they faced off against the eventual tournament winner the South Bergen Mets. The team was tied into the 6th in a back and forth game when they gave up 4 runs. The team was short handed on pitching and the SB bats caught up to the tired pitching.

The team will again have three teams out at Baseball Heaven for the PG NE Qualifier #2 in September.
