Jupiter Velocities ReleasedThe velocities from the WWBA World Championships in Jupiter, Florida have been released. Each pitchers top velocity is listed on the Perfect Game site. The velocity listed was their highest recorded pitch while at the event. Ten Baseball U pitchers averaged 87.3 MPH. The highest recorded pitch was by Patrick O’Leary. The 2011 graduate faced two of the top prospects in the country including a possible number one draft pick in Bell from the Dallas Patriots. All O’Leary did was face 7 batters while retiring all 7 and striking out 5. He fastball was 90-91 with a power slider from 79-82. Four other pitchers hit 88MPH as well. While velocity is impressive so were two other U pitchers. Matt Lorenzetti pitched a complete game 2 hitter while allowing no runs in the opening day performance. Lorenzetti worked the corners and topped out at 84MPH. Another pitcher who was impressive in two relief appearances was Mike Galvin. His fastball was only recorded at 82mph but his curve, slider and change had hitters off balance. He pitched two shutout innings against one of the other nation’s finest teams, the ABD Bulldogs.
